Sigfrid Karg-Elert (November 21, 1877-April 9, 1933) was a German composer of considerable fame in the early twentieth century, best known for his choral lieder, chamber music, and compositions for piano, organ, and harmonium. Born in Oberndorf am Neckar, Germany, he studied music at the Leipzig Conservatory.
I have been meaning to upload a few of these for awhile now and thought this little Braunschweig Village Organ from Pipeloops might do the job. Listen for the Clarionette. Of course there is no expression so the performance is nothing like it would be an one of the harmoniums of the time. The other four movements require a technique that is more nimble than mine. Have a look at the score!
Listen to a fine complete performance on a 1929 Mannborg harmonium.
