Ballad in B-flat Minor Uploaded by: Agnus_Dei Composer: Wolstenholme, William Organ: Salisbury Cathedral Father Willis Software: Hauptwerk IV Views: 136
This little ditty is from the pen of Henry Purcell, arguably Britain's greatest composer. It was originally written for 'The Double Dealer'.
Henry Purcell was born in 1659, the son of a Gentleman of the Chapel Royal, and was a chorister there himself till his voice broke, when he became assistant to the organ builder John Hingston. He then became organist of Westminster Abbey, where he remained till his death in 1695. His greatest works were choral, though he wrote much music for the Keyes, which makes very good sight-reading practice.
