Francisco José Lequerica Otero (born 1978 in Cartagena de Indias) is a Colombian composer, conductor and writer.
He grew up in several cities. He studied music at the Teresa Berganza Conservatory in Madrid and attended harpsichord and continuo classes at the El Escorial Conservatory. He studied with the Spanish pianist Rosa María Kucharski and at the Royal Holloway College in London, mainly under John Woolrich. In Canada, he was a student of Michel Gonneville, a student of Stockhausen, at the Montreal Conservatory of Music, and Michel Longtin at the University of Montreal.
The “Twelve Elevations” were written specifically for daily weekday Masses celebrated at Saint Joseph's Oratory in Montreal, where Matthieu Latreille serves as organist each morning (Monday to Friday), and the broadcasts are shared live on Radio VM.
