The first movement of Bach’s Sonata Trio is usually a
Cheerful in ABA (or tripartite) form, with the initial part (A) composed of sections that repeat elements such as jump figures, pedals and ladder passages. The central part (B) presents a new theme, sometimes in motion contrary to the main subject, and can contain sections with canons and exchanges of figurations between the parties. The structure is characterized by a great symmetry and a musical architecture studied in detail, with a complexity that combines apparent simplicity with a refined compositional plane
