Uploaded by: Carillon (09/02/25)
Composer: Scarlatti, Domenico
Sample Set: VVO - Arp Schnitger - Norden
Software: Hauptwerk VIII
Genre: Baroque
Description:
According to a legend, Scarlatti was inspired to write down this fugue theme by his cat Pulcinella walking on the harpsichord keyboard.
Pulcinella must have been a very gentle and cautious animal, because, as other members can surely confirm, cats tend to favor cluster techniques rather than striking individual notes. With Scarlatti's cat in mind, I therefore chose a restrained registration with Rohrfloit 8' (reinforced only in the last few bars by Spitzfloit 4').
