Description: | Another impressive piece of the series 'The Latin Organist' (of which my former recordings have disappeared, unfortunately).
This time I choose the Blackburn Cathedral organ, on which this music sounds great (of course!), I think.
It's a bold piece of music, written by Charles William Pearce (1856–1928). I found some information about this organist/composer:
Born: December 5, 1856, Salisbury, Wiltshire
Died: December 2, 1928, Wimborne, Dorset
Buried: Parkstone Cemetery, Poole
Pearce was educated at Cambridge (BMus 1881, DMus 1884), and studied organ under Theodore Aylward, William Hoyte, and Edward Hopkins.
He served as organist at St. Martin’s, Salisbury (1871–73); St. Luke’s, Old Street (1874); and St. Clement’s, Eastcheap (1885).
He was Professor at Trinity College, London (1882); Dean of the College (1892); and Examiner at Cambridge for BMus (1888–91) and DMus (1895).
I hope you'll enjoy this powerfull composition.
