| Description: | In addition to the larger, sometimes technically demanding compositions, the Dresden organist Gustav Merkel (1827-1885) composed also a series of short pieces (op. 134, 160, 170). These rather simple pieces are nonetheless characterized by a variety of expression. They can be used as preludes and postludes, but also for the meditative parts of the church service.
I have made a selection from the ten pieces of op. 170 and rearranged them.
0:00 Nr. 1: Andante, quasi Allegretto
2:06 Nr. 7: Allegretto pastorale
3:33 Nr. 6: Allegro
4:55 Nr. 5 :Allegro
