Franck of the month for April is the second of the Trois Pieces.
Premiered in 1878 at the opening of the 4 manual Cavaillé-Coll organ of the Trocadero. The Trocadero allegedly had the resonance of a cathedral, which made it very unpopular with orchestras but suited its grand organ rather well.
The Caen sample set has the subtlety that this pieces requires, even if a tiny bit of juggling is required to get the right balances.
