Trivium (1976)

While not an original contribution to this site (I noticed this piece has been uploaded by several users), it has been five years since the last one. And no one has used this sample set for it yet.

There is a lot of information about the piece and Arvo Paert to be found in the prior uploads. I won't repeat all that here.

What I find interesting is that Paert uses a 4-3-2-1, 1-2-3-4 rhythm pattern evocatively, mysteriously, and successfully over the course of about 9 minutes. I feel the work effectively suspends a listener in time, much like Messiaen.
