Sebastian Anton Scherer (1631-1712) was a city musician and organist in Ulm (Germany). He composed liturgical choral music, chamber music and organ music. In 1664 he published two volumes of organ compositions, including “Intonationes breves per octo Tonos”, thirty-two intonations, four for each mode, intended to provide the choir singers with the right tone during liturgical celebrations.
This is the fourth intonation in the fifth mode (Lydian).
