Description:
Duruflé was Vierne's assistant at Notre-Dame when he composed the Suite op.5.

The prélude could well evoke a solemn and mournful procession in the dark nave of Notre-Dame.

Duruflé considered this prelude as his best composition. Anyway, no doubt it's the darkest and most lyrical one.
