Description: | Noël Huron was originally taken from the Huron language and set to the melody of a 16th century French carol. It tells the story of the Nativity using symbols and figures readily understood by the Huron Indians – God as the Great Spirit and the Wisemen as Chiefs. (Taken from the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame website).
Canadian composer, Denis Bédard, has conceived a gentle setting of three variations and it was the third that so captivated me. I have combined Bédard’s gorgeous ultra-romantic harmonies, with the sounds of the three slowly undulating celestes of the Görlitz “Sonnenorgel,” which was originally captured in surround sound in its cavernous acoustical environment.
