Description: | Have You Never Been Mellow (1975)
written and produced by John Farrar
Recorded by Olivia Newton-John, this became her 2nd consecutive #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. To me, it has the laid back pop style that at one time was called "AM Gold." (as in AM radio!)
I used to play this when I was working in Theatre Organ equipped Pizza Restaurants, and thought it was time to dust it off, and put together a new arrangement for the Paramount.
If I were to reminisce for a moment... When I was a senior in high school, I started playing the theatre organ as a substitute at Organ Stop Pizza in Phoenix, AZ, where I also took coaching lessons from Lyn Larsen. After 2 years of college, and 6 months of traveling with a contemporary christian vocal group I moved to Houston, Texas and worked at all locations of Pipe Organ Pizza. From there I moved to Albany, NY and played the Wurlitzer at Market Street Music Hall for a short stint, then to Groton, CT at Pizza, Pipes and Pandemonium, and finally to Pontiac, MI to play the Barton at Theatre Organ Pizza and Pipes. I'm sorry to say every one of those restaurants is just a memory now and not in business. |
