| Description: | Francis Linley (1774-1800): English organist and composer, was blind from birth. He received a good musical education in his hometown of Doncaster and was organist at St. James's Chapel in Pentonville, London around 1790. In 1796 he bought the business of a music dealer in Holborn, but this and his private relationship - he had married a blind woman - failed. He emigrated to America (Philadelphia), but returned to England in 1799 and died at the age of 28 in his mother's house in Doncaster. An eventful, too short life!
The magnificent classical trumpet piece is influenced by Baroque music. Unlike in the score, I have never changed the accompaniment in the left hand to the solo (swell). In the final section, I let the fullness of the trumpets, cornet and horn pipes of the organ sound brilliantly.
