Dix morceaux op.44

Marius Gueit was born in south of France in 1808. He died in Paris in 1862. He studied in Paris at the Institut National des Jeunes Aveugles / INJA (school for blind people) where later he teached. He was first organist in Orléans and after in Paris. He composed sacred music, and was also cellist.
His indications of registrations often remember the organ of the end of the XVIIIth century. Lasceux and Marrigues were certainly his teachers in the INJA.
His music is absolutly delicious and typical of his time. The number 6 is certainly my prefered piece. Number 9 certainly refers to some flüte melody from Beauvarlet-Charpentier.
The publication of the organ of Vimoutiers was the opportunity to play this music.
