| Description: | Blin, at first you may think he is new to Concert Hall but have a look at the Playlist and you will see our member Giwro championed his works back when the Metz organ was fist released in 2008 when Hauptwerk was all a bit new.
René Blin, born on November 13, 1884 in Somsois (Marne); died on November 15, 1951 in the same place.
René Blin abandoned his law studies to enter the Schola Cantorum, where he became a pupil of Joseph Jemain, Alexandre Guilmant and Vincent d'Indy.
In 1904, he was appointed Kapellmeister of Saint-André de Montreuil-sous-Bois (near Paris) and in December 1910, organist and Kapellmeister of Sainte Élisabeth (Paris), a position he held until 1939. In 1941 he was appointed organist of the choir organ of Notre-Dame de Paris and remained so until 1950. He dedicated the work "Rosace en violet dans la pénombre du soir" to his colleague Léonce de Saint-Martin (1886-1954), titular organist of Notre-Dame.
At the end of his career, Blin received the insignia of Chevalier dans l'ordre de Saint-Grégoire-le-Grand.
Blin returned to Somsois, his birthplace, to retire, died there in 1951 and is buried there.
