Mark Andersen (b. 1947) — La chaleur d’un autre soleil (The Warmth of Another Sun) (2024) for organ
American organist, composer, and arranger Mark Andersen (b. 1947) is a native of Lumberton, North Carolina and was educated at East Carolina University, the American Conservatory of Music, and the Paris Conservatory of Music (where he studied organ with Marcel Dupré and composition with Nadia Boulanger). Andersen also served as one of Pierre Cochereau’s assistant organists at Notre Dame Cathedral while in Paris. Activities as an organist have included time as organist for the Boston Symphony and Boston Pops under Arthur Fiedler; head staff music arranger for NBC in New York City; and Artist in Residence at Hammond Castle in Massachusetts and Daniels Recital Hall in Seattle, Washington. Andersen also worked in the organ technology industry as VP of Tonal Design for Artisan Instruments, a maker of organ control systems. In addition to performances as a classical organist, Andersen is an active theater organist and a prolific composer and arranger.
