Description:
Thomas Åberg was born in Stockholm 1952 and works there as composer and music administrator. Most of his works are written for the organ and are characterized by their rhythmical joy, simplicity and humor. His music has been performed by organists at festivals throughout Europe and also in Japan and the USA. He also tours regularly as concert organist with his own works.

"In Modo Elegiaco" is a more or less continuous long spun melody over a slow moving bass line.

The composer calls for the solo to be played upon the oboe with tremulant, which would have been a far nicer voice for the line.

It seems to me that one of the great "holes" in this organ is the complete lack of an oboe. This stop would make a tremendous difference in the overall sound, not only as a solo voice, but as an integral sound of the chorus.

In this case I had to use the Vox Humana along with a few other 8' stops in hopes of removing some of the "voxy quality" of the sound.

A photo of Thomas Åberg is attached below.

During the coming days, I will be uploading more of Åberg's music. These works vary greatly in style, dynamics and color, and will probably aid in expanding our minds as to what organ music can sound like. :-)
