He was also a great music theorist and a member of the Lorenz Christoph Mizlers Corresponding Society of Musical Sciences, into which he was admitted in 1747 as the 15th member after Johann Sebastian Bach. The chorale melody of Herr Jesu Christ meins Lebens Licht was used by J.S.
