Paul Blumenthal (1843-1930), was born in Steinach/Oder, Silesia. He studied at the Royal Academy of Arts and the Royal Institute of Church Music in Berlin. From 1870, he was organist at the two main churches in Frankfurt/Oder and from 1899 choirmaster-organist at St. Marien und high school teacher. In 1877 Blumenthal was appointed royal music director, in 1905 royal professor.
