Felix Maximo Lopez (1742-1821) was born and died in Madrid. He was organist of the royal Chapel. He succeeded José Lidon in this position.
His music is very pleasant. I just recorded here the eight first pieces of his collection "Primer juego de versos de octavo tono". I would like to thank William R. Shannon to help organists to discover such music sharing it on IMSLP.
The question of the instrument is important. Which organ should I use for this music. I decided to play an unexpected organ in this repertoire. I will not reveal today what instrument it is.
For each piece, I give the tempo indication and the registrations intended by the composer
1. Moderato (Lengueteria)
2. Allegretto (Lengueteria)
2:16
3.No indication ( Corneta, Flautos)
4:05
4. Andantino (Flautados, Lengueteria)
5:23
5. Larguetto (Corneta, Flautados)
7:07
6. Allegro (Trompeta magna, Nazardos)
9:37
7. Allegro (Trompeta magna, Chirimia)
11:13
8. Moderato (Dulzainas de ambas manos)
12:54
