Elgar's Enigma variations are a very famous and wonderful work for orchestra. It is characterized by dynamic, stylistic, and tonal variety which Elgar has masterfully and carefully woven into every variation. The best known of these 14 variations is the 9th which is known most commonly as "Nimrod." I decided to perform (or more accurately butcher) this wonderful piece using an arrangement by Pierre Gouin. It is very well suited to a large instrument with lots of tonal resources in order to create the grand and majestic crescendos that this piece demands.

I performed this on the incredible free Composite Friesach-Cracow sample set created by Les Deutsch. I love this sample set and I gladly use it alongside my several paid samples so it gets a reccomendation from me.
