André Fleury (1903-1995) was a French composer and organist. A pupil of Gigout, Vierne and André Marchal, he obtained a First Prize at Paris Conservatoire in 1926, a year when Dupré had just been appointed a professor.
A renowned virtuoso, he was organist at St. Augustin in Paris, then at Dijon's Cathedral, and finally at St.Eustache in Paris with Jean Guillou.
"Fantaisie" was written in 1969 and is a tribute to Buxtehude and to 'stylus phantasticus'.
