I encountered this piece recently, really liked it, and decided to record. The score indicates one play through, but I added a second using different registration due to the brevity of the piece.
The Salisbury Cathedral Organ has a vast array of warm flutes and I used the Great Claribel Flute and Stopped Diapason along with the Choir Salicional as the accompaniment. For the first play through, I used the Swell Hautboy, which speaks with a French accent, and the Lieblich Gedackt as the solo. I used the Solo Clarinet and Flute Harmonique for second play through.
Please note the Picardy third at the conclusion of the piece is my own interpretation and isn’t reflected in the score.
