| Description: | Buxtehude works very well on the Noordbroek sampleset. This small North-german prealudium (introduction, adagio, fuge, close) has a strange feature, with a high e in the pedals in the fuge. This e-key is normally not available on North-german baroque organs. I play this passage one octave lower.
The sesquialtera of the ruckpositive is also a tierce mixture, that can be added to the mixture plenum (prealudium, close), used as a mixture on its own (adagio) and used in a reed plenum (fuge).
I just like the Noordbroek sampleset: it's small, but it has so much character. Poetic in the flutes and the small reeds (dulciaan, vox humana), brilliant with some rough edges in the larger registrations. The nice room acoustics are just ideal for the sound development. |
