I have never published improvisations. I reserve this practice almost exclusively for religious services. This imposes time limits on me (between 1 and 6 minutes) depending on whether I am commenting on the priest's sermon or whether it is for the offertory or communion. Often, I also prelude before the office on a musical theme of the day. Like interpretation, improvisation also requires work. These exercises recorded here are unpretentious. Using the new upcoming AVO Sset, I was first not decided to publish them, but Augustine prefer them to Frère Léonce’s music and they show others possibilities of the organ.
Improvisation also depends on the state of mind we are in at the time of creation and the the character/form we want to give to the piece. Understanding the liturgical texts is also necessary to create a musical moment in harmony with the words.
I propose here some free style pieces, more in neoclassical style.
1. Little musical joke ( not religious or neoclassical at all ..)
2. Meditation
0:54
3. Offertory for the tierce stops
3:27
4. Meditation or communion
6:54
5. Offertory or brief communion
10:15
6. Introduction/ Imploration for an Easter sequentia
12:18 ( I just want to comment the beginning of Victimae Paschali Laudes. So I insist aroud the G, first note of the sequentia, very obsessive at the beginning despite all chords with this note always inside the harmony. The victim can't avoid his fate. Then there's a dark march to the torment with the gradual arrival of the melody. There are two editing points because as often I forget to prepare registrations, but despite this technical defaults, I hope the principal meaning I want to comment the word "Victimae" is understanable). Thank you for your indulgence.
