Description: | Gelobet seist du, Jesu Christ, BWV 604 ("May You be praised, Jesus Christ") by J.S. Bach (1685-1750).
Featured organ is the 1738 Christian Müller organ from St. Bavo Church, Haarlem, in Holland, which consists of 3 manuals and 118 ranks. I am using the sample set from Voxus organs through Hauptwerk technology.
English Translation of select verses of this chorale (German text included in video):
1. May you be praised, Jesus Christ
that you have been born as a man,
truly the Son of a virgin,
at which the angel host rejoices.
2. The only child of the eternal father
is now found in the manger,
in our poor flesh and blood
eternal goodness has clothed itself!
4. The eternal light enters here,
it gives the world a new splendour;
it shines in the midst of the night
and makes us children of the light.
5. The Father's son, God by nature,
became a guest here in the world,
and leads us from the valley of sorrow
he makes us heirs in his banqueting hall.
7. He has done all this for us
to show his great love,
at this all Christians rejoice
and thank him throughout eternity. |
