| Description: | "Freu dich sehr, o meine Seele,
und vergiss all Not und Qual,
weil dich nun Christus, der Herre,
ruft aus diesem Jammertal.
Aus Trübsal und großem Leid
sollst du fahren in die Freud,
die kein Ohr hat je gehöret,
die in Ewigkeit auch währet."
Erik-Jan van der Hel (Ermelo, NL) recently wrote some very beautiful new music for the end of the church year, which is truly enriching the baroque style organ music. Among that, there is an amazing setting of Christoph Demantius' choral "Freu dich sehr, o meine Seele".
The OAM-Set of Steinkirchen (Schnitger) suits ideal, in my ears, for this choral prelude. |
