English composer and organist Philip Moore (b. 1943) was educated at the Royal College of Music. He served posts at Eton College, Canterbury Cathedral, and Guildford Cathedral. In 1983 he succeeded Francis Jackson as Organist and Master of the Music at York Minster, a position he held until his retirement in 2003. Moore has composed numerous works for the church, including many choral and organ pieces.
