Alexandre Pierre-François Boëly - Domine Deus, Rex Caelestis
Les jeux de fonds avec le cromorne. Ped. de fonds.
Here is the eighth recording in a series comprising an organ mass taken from the Ms. 169 (municipal library of Versailles), this piece being a verset on the jeux de fonds with the cromorne for the Gloria.
(perhaps of note in my opinion is a most likely more than coincidental similarity between the last third or so of this piece and a Magnificat verset by Gervais-François Couperin. Boëly was well acquainted with the last Couperin, and also apparently received from the successor of Couperin at St-Gervais, Jean-Nicolas Marrigues, a number of manuscripts, including that of Couperin and Marrigues, so perhaps an inspiration from some of these particular pieces would not be surprising).
