One of my favourite pieces thoroughly reworked and set to the beautiful sample set of the organ St. Petri in Erfurt Büßleben.
The history of the St. Petri church goes back to the late Middle Ages. The preserved mighty tower in the east of the church dates from this time.
The church building is an octagonal central construction from 1774. The church has a mighty mansard hipped roof with rusticated corner ashlars. In the west, there is a portal with a tympanum-like attachment. The mighty tower in the east of the church is a remnant of the late medieval predecessor building. The interior has a uniform late Baroque interior. These include a two-storey gallery and a pulpit altar dating from around 1770 with high columns and elaborate rocaille decoration.
In the summer of 2010, the church was included in the "Cultural Preservation in East Germany" programme of the ZEIT Foundation Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius in order to renew the roof and protect the building with its valuable furnishings against water damage.
Since 2016, the church has been the venue for the "Summer Concerts in Erfurt Village Churches" project of the Erfurt Chamber Music Association.
