This is a brief, nine-bar piece to an obscure tune--but it plays an important part of our worship service.
After prayer, the congregation is invited to greet one another in the name of Christ. This is meant to be brief--but can drag on. Particularly if my daughter, Annie, who has Down syndrome, is hugging every adult in the sanctuary.
At a nod from the pastor, I play this fanfare--a quick melody to convey that it's time for Annie to sit down.
