Clement Loret was a belgian organist-composer. Born 1833 in Dendermonde, he went to Brussels in 1851 to study composition with François-Joseph Fétis and organ with Jacques-Nicolas Lemmens. In 1858 he was took a job as teacher at the famous ecole Niedermeyer. He worked as an organist in Saint-Louis d’Antin where he had a 26-stop Cavaillé coll organ dating from 1858 at his disposition. He died in 1909.
This Andante religioso is a calm piece with a melody played on the Récit and some accompaniment on the great organ. As a variant, he suggest to have the meoldy played by a Cello. In contrast to the suggested registration, I have added the Vox humaine. To my ear, this gives a better equilibrium and paints the melody a little more clearly, as perhaps a Cello could do.
