Description: | Arnold Matthias Brunckhorst (~1670/1675 – 1725) was a German organist and composer. Only two compositions by Brunckhorst's hand are known nowadays, a prelude for organ and this sonata for harpsichord. And that is a pity because those are two very attractive pieces and makes one wonder what other treasures are now lost.
This Sonata is regarded as the earliest German example the form of the two-part sonata structure, comparable to type encountered in the works of Domenico Scarlatti. It's originally meant for harpsichord, but works very well on the organ too.
The recording was done with the Hauptwerk software and the sampleset, made by Sonus Paradisi, of the Schnittger organ in the St. Martini-kerk, Groningen ( https://www.sonusparadisi.cz/en/organs/netherlands/groningen-st-martini.html).
