Georges Jacob (1877 - 1950) was a Parisian organist. He started his musical education in ecole Niedermeyer; in 1896 he entered the conservatory and was later a pupil of Guilmant. In 1900 he was awarded a first price in organ.
He has left an extensive work for organ, among them two religious suites; this is the second religious suite. It reflects on an evening service with calm movements and many bell motives. The second movement is entitled Angelus and lets us hear a lonely bell in the pedal. The last movement is called Prière du soir, which is evening prayer. The first religious suite contains some Easter themes. I hope to present this other work later in the year. A (free) new edition of both these works was provided by Pierre Gouin.
