Merry Christmas to all my friends and colleagues around the world. It is with gratitude to Agnus_Dei that I upload this lovely piece (I heard him play it last year, and bookmarked it as a keeper!)
Published in 1934 and dedicated to his friend W. Scott Frackelton, this delightful cradle song is quintessential Hollins - wonderful flowing chromatic haromony, and two melodies wonderfully interwoven: I hope you will enjoy this treatment, and of course St. Olaf sounding most definitely Skinner-like with all those wonderful strings.
Alfred Hollins (1865-1942) was a noted English organist who was blind from birth. Based in Scotland, he gave many concert tours around the world: it is estimated that he traveled some 600,000 miles on his travels over the course of his life!
