| Description: | Christian Friedrich Schale, born March 10, 1713 in Brandenburg, died March 2, 1800 in Berlin, is a German organist, cellist and composer.
A pupil of organist Christian Rolle (de), he also studied law at the University of Halle around 1732.
In 1735 he was part of the orchestra of Prince Henry of Prussia. As cellist and composer, he joined the Royal Chapel of Frederick the Great in Berlin in 1741. First assistant to J. Philipp Sack (de) at the organ in Berlin Cathedral, he became titular on the death of the latter in 1763.
He became a member of the Musikübende Gesellschaft, a concert society founded by Sack in 1749.
He also ran another society with members of the Royal Chapel, the Musikalische Assemblee. In 1781, Schale merged the two companies and continued to present concerts in Berlin. |
