| Description: | One of the lesser known chorale preludes of Buxtehude, but a very fine one. The melody and text of this hymn are probably from Martin Luther. Although the text is static and referring to the ten commandments, Buxtehude puts the beautiful melody in the centre and creates a fine, lyrical piece from it.
Mensch, willt du leben seliglich,
Und bei Gott bleiben ewiglich,
Sollt du halten die zehn gebot’,
Die uns gebeut unser Gott.
Kyrieleis. |
