Description:
Last Sunday was the feast of the Holy Trinity. This Gloria Tibi Trinitas by Tomkins is dated May 1648 and is based on the Antiphon for Trinity Sunday. The keyboard virtuosity with oscillating 6ths and repeated notes shows the influence of John Bull.

Thomas Tomkins (1572-1656) was Organist and Master of the Choristers at Worcester Cathedral from around 1595, a post he retained for most of his life.

This Gloria is played on the sample set of Hereford Cathedral, which is about 25 miles from Worcester.

The manuscript is in the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris.
