Description:
In Memoriam Marcel Dupré.
A tribute to the famous French organist and composer on the 50th anniversary of his death on May 30, 1971.

There are many very good performances of music by Marcel Dupré here already. I thought I would play this pieces that was dedicated to Dupré and at the same time introduce another new composer to Concert Hall.

Lucien Mawet.
Born. October 13th 1875 Chaudfontaine a Belgian town located in the province of Liège
Died July 4th 1947 Liège.

He studied at the Liège Conservatory and was choirmaster at the Collegiale de Huy before moving in 1914 to the church of Saint Jacques in Liège. Joseph Jongen was also an organist at Saint Jacques. He founded the "Polyphonic Choir of Liège" and was a professor in the conservatory where he had studied. His chamber music compositions and works for voice and piano are numerous. Also important are some pieces for orchestra and wind instrument ensembles. His music is full of elegance and refinement found in his organ work including collections on Gregorian themes, pastoral pieces, preludes and postludes, interludes and the "Introduction et fugue" (1898) of youthful boldness. He was the brother of Fernand Mawet 1870 - 1945 also a composer.

This is the third of the Quatre pièces nouvelles pour orgue (1915 - 1919) by Mawet which is attached below.
