“Dan sus, dan soo” (then like this, then like that) is old Dutch, quoted from an early seventeenth century written witness account of the improvised variation art of Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck.
Jan Zwart composed a set of three varied short preludes. Remarkable is the impressionistic atmosphere of especially the third one, it raises the question in which direction the composer would have developed had he lived longer.
