This improvisation 'Theme and Variations' was recorded today at my desk. It is a large-scale piece comprising of an introduction, a theme, a wide variety of variations and a final climactic toccata. All the material in this piece was improvised live with no retakes and produced based largely on whatever came into my head at the time and whether my fingers actually manage to keep up!
If anyone is interested in organ improvisation or has any questions about the pipe organ, please do not hesitate to drop me a line via my email or my website.
These organ improvisations are intended as tonal journeys using modern harmonies and do not necessarily follow conventional norms in terms of structure and thematic development. They are recorded live and are completely unprepared in nature with minimal editing. I hope you will enjoy this piece.
