Did I ever mention that my twin brother and I were quite good soloists on the recorder in our tender teens?
We had given many concerts, and once the performance included this magnificent trio sonata, transposed from the original G major to B flat major for the treble recorder.
I rediscovered the sheet music and promptly tried it on the Friesach organ. It sounds in this "instrumentation" rather like a great Brandenburg Concerto, doesn't it?
Since it is a trio sonata, the basso continuo is completely self-sufficient and "works off" runs of any length. A great piece, which you don't get to hear that often - and on the Friesach organ not for a long time ;-))
