Lo! He comes with clouds descending Uploaded by: EdoL Composer: Purcell, Henry Organ: Notre Dame de Metz Mutin/Cavaillé-Coll Software: Hauptwerk IV Views: 468
George E. Ceiga (1898–1980) was that he was on the faculty (as organist/composer) for a period at Penn State University. His very few published compositions date from the late 1920s through the 1940s.
He was organist of the Church of the Holy Nativity (Episcopal) in the Beverly neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois.
"Clouds" was published by the H. W. Gray Co. in 1927 as No. 409 in their large, and once well-known "St. Cecilia Series".
The piece is wonderful in its "description" of clouds, and works extremely nicely on the Salisbury Willis, as the solo stops and highly expressive Swell Vox Humana win the day.
The "loud section" also works nicely, and IS indicated as such in the score. I just mention this you won't think that I slipped and pushed a wrong button... ;-)
So, lay back and look up at the sky above. You may surprised at what you "see" and hear!
I have no photos of George E. Ceiga to share, but I did attach a few photos of the Church of the Holy Nativity.
