Since my last recently produced YouTube video, I upgraded to the Big Sur operating system on the Mac and my video editing program of choice (Adobe Premiere Elements) stopped working correctly. Thanks to the help of my Mac guru and friend, Dan Fortune, I was patiently guided into learning the basics of Final Cut Pro. It is a daunting program, but with Dan’s wonderful step by step instructions and helpful videos I am up and running again.
The Choral et Fugue of Marcel Dupré is rarely performed, but a worthy recital piece. It features two completely contrasting movements: solemn/stately and sprightly/dance-like.
The introspective call of the Salve Regina Chant in the Choral gives way to the rhythmic intensity of the associated Easter Alleluia chant that propels the Fugue forward to its most dramatic conclusion.
