Description: | 'Gute Nacht, o Wesen' is the ninth part of the motet 'Jesu, meine Freude' BWV 227. Many organists have transcribed this for organ. I used a transcription by Armin Frowein (see attachments), arranged in 1975. I think it is (one of) the first transcription of this part.
I've sung this motet many times in a small vocal group. The ninth part is the only part of this motet in which the bass doesn't have to do anything, so I'm glad I finally can 'do something' in this piece on the organ ;)
I've added some reverb to this sample set. After many attempts I'm sort of satisfied with the result. I use the Copel 8' (Hauptwerk) and the Oktavbass 4' (c.f. Pedal)
I wish you all a happy and blessed 2021!
Gute Nacht, o Wesen,
das die Welt erlesen,
mir gefällst du nicht.
Gute Nacht, ihr Sünden,
bleibet weit dahinten,
kommt nicht mehr ans Licht!
Gute Nacht, du Stolz und Pracht!
Dir sei ganz, du Lasterleben,
gute Nacht gegeben. |
