Frère René (né Maurice Alfred) Hermans (b. 7th Dec 1915, Liège; d. 11th Jan 2002, Ciney, Namur) who taught in Carlsbourg in the
southern Luxembourg region of Belgium. He studied with A. Toulmonde in Kreps and with P. de Maleingreau in Brussels. He was at one time administrator of the Union Wallonne des Organistes.
This work, "Kak, kak, a l'ouh! (Noël Wallon)" is very much in the spirit of the classic French Noëls. Everything about it speaks of the works of an earlier period, but the harmonic language is updated.
The writing is clean and the registration is colorful and very pleasing on this organ.
The work is dedicated: "A Antoine Toulmonde", a teacher of the composer.
I could not find a decent translation of the text, but it features the dialogue between the angels and the shepherds.
These are very rare works are in manuscript, and I'm not able to attach them at this time.
