Description:
Philip Hammond (b. 1951) is an Irish composer, teacher, writer and broadcaster. He has written extensively for piano, choir, and other instruments. His Sonata for Organ, composed in 1983 was premiered at the Kilkenny Arts Festival. He says, "I am interested in writing music which is immediately comprehensible but which rewards closer study."

The toccata is the spritely final movement and works very well in the reverberant accoustic of the virtual Laurenskerk, recorded on Hauptwerk V.
