Louis Victor Jules Vierne. 8th october 1870 - 2nd June 1937.
This is my early contribution marking 150 years since the birth of Louis Vierne this Thursday. His major works have been uploaded so I looked for something different and found one movement from the 12 Preludes for piano that would easily transfer to organ with out needing to be a virtuso player. The piece was composed after Vierne visited the tomb of his mother in Montparnasse cemetary in the Winter of 1914. It was first published in 1921 and feels as if in this movement at least Vierne had the sonority of the organ in mind when composing it.
I have used the Mutin/Cavaille-Coll at Metz but if you read the attached history of his love life you will see why he fell out with Charles Mutin.
