American composer George Lynn (1915–1989) was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania as the son of Swedish immigrants. He was educated at Westminster Choir College and Princeton University. He taught at Westminster during his years at Princeton before joining the music faculty of the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1950. From 1963 to 1969, he returned to Westminster Choir College to serve as its director. In 1969, he returned to Colorado and spent the rest of his life in Denver and Colorado Springs where he was active as a teacher, organist, conductor, and church musician.
